Filmmakers Sudha Kongara and Anurag Kashyap recently shared a heartwarming reunion on social media, marking fifteen years since they last met. Kongara posted candid pictures with Kashyap and reminisced about their first encounter, writing: “Fifteen years since we last met @anuragkashyap72!!! My fav buddy and writer-filmmaker. I still remember the first day we met twenty-five years ago… after just four hours of meeting, you asked me, ‘so when are you directing your first film—a love story?’ You finished decoding me in three hours. Though you are the darkness guy and me the sunshine person, we remain friends forever. When are you writing and GIVING me my love story, mister?”
Kongara, known for her heartfelt storytelling in films like Irudhi Suttru and Soorarai Pottru, is currently busy wrapping her upcoming project Parasakthi, a political period drama produced by Dawn Pictures.
The film stars Sivakarthikeyan, Ravi Mohan, Atharvaa, and Sreeleela (marking her Tamil debut), alongside Abbas, Dev Ramnath, Prithvi Rajan, Guru Somasundaram, Basil Joseph, Papri Ghosh, and Rana Daggubati. Based on real events, Parasakthi delves into the Anti-Hindi agitations of Tamil Nadu in 1965, promising a mix of historical drama and political intrigue.
Meanwhile, Anurag Kashyap is immersed in Bandar, a crime-thriller produced by Nikhil Dwivedi under his Saffron Magicworks banner. Written by Sudip Sharma and Abhishek Banerjee, the film draws inspiration from a real-life event. It follows Samar, an aging television star struggling with fading fame, and features Bobby Deol and Sanya Malhotra in pivotal roles.
This nostalgic reunion not only celebrates two decades of creative camaraderie but also highlights the diverse, ambitious projects both filmmakers are currently spearheading — one steeped in history, the other in crime and suspense.
