Known for his impeccable comic timing and powerful performances, Deepak Dobriyal is all set to surprise audiences with a completely new avatar in Son of Sardaar 2. The sequel to the 2012 blockbuster stars Ajay Devgn and Mrunal Thakur, and brings back the signature madness, Punjabi flavor, and wild humor — this time with a fresh cast, a bolder script, and unexpected twists.
At the trailer launch, Dobriyal revealed that his role in the film was one of the most challenging — and hilarious — experiences of his career. “It’s a very challenging role — something totally different from what I’ve done before. But I truly enjoyed doing it,” he said.
He also revealed the unexpected transformation his character demanded: “I’m playing a woman in the film — and let me tell you, becoming a woman was not easy at all !”
Despite the challenge, the set was filled with laughter and good vibes. “The environment was full of fun, energy, and positivity. That always lifts your performance.” Talking about the film’s comic tone, he noted how Son of Sardaar 2 offers a unique brand of humor that stands apart from his previous work. “This is a very different kind of comedy. Dadu (director Ashwni Dhir) brings his own flavor to it — he transports the entire set and story into the heart of Punjab. That Punjabi style of comedy, with its own nuance and rhythm, just starts to come alive when he’s around.”
While Dobriyal is known for his comic roles, he’s clear about one thing: “I’ll always say yes to interesting comic roles. But I don’t want to play the same kind of character in every film. I don’t want to become ‘Pappi’ in everything I do.”
Directed by Ashwni Dhir and produced by Ajay Devgn under the Ajay Devgn FFilms banner, Son of Sardaar 2 is set to hit theatres on July 25, 2025. The film promises to deliver a madcap ride of humor, action, and heartfelt moments.
