At the trailer launch of Son of Sardaar 2, actor and Member of Parliament Ravi Kishan took a heartfelt moment to reflect on his long and winding journey in Indian cinema — from Bollywood to Bhojpuri stardom, and now, back to center stage in mainstream Hindi cinema. In the upcoming action-comedy directed by Vijay Kumar Arora, Ravi plays Raja, a pivotal character alongside Ajay Devgn, Mrunal Thakur, and Sanjay Mishra. The film is set to hit theatres on July 25, 2025.
Speaking to the media during the trailer launch, Ravi began by acknowledging the significance of this moment in his career: “I’d say this much—this is a huge opportunity after such a long time. I’m thankful to Ajay Devgn for giving me this chance. I was waiting for this.”
Ravi recalled his early days in the film industry with a tinge of nostalgia and unfiltered honesty. “When I started out, I worked with Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, and Mithun Chakraborty. I thought my struggles were over. My name even went to the National Awards. But then the Bhojpuri industry, which was almost shut, needed to be revived — and I had to make myself a superstar there.”
Known for singlehandedly reshaping the Bhojpuri film space, Ravi went on to speak about how, over time, he found himself slowly re-entering the mainstream fold. “With the grace of God, I came back. Most recently with Laapataa Ladies, we went all the way to the Oscars. Ajay Devgn saw my Netflix series Maamla Legal Hai, and he called me for Singham. We shot in Kashmir. I’ve been his fan for years, but we met for the first time after 33 years.”
Adding a surprising twist, Ravi shared that he was in the midst of elections when he was called for Singham and was initially nervous about taking it on. “I was scared too. But Ajay is so kind, generous, and such a realistic performer. So things worked out beautifully.”
The big turning point, however, came with a phone call from Devgn himself. “One fine day, I got a call from him. He asked me, ‘What are you doing?’ and then asked if I’d be willing to do a 40-day shoot. Let me tell you—this is a huge break for me.”
Getting visibly emotional, Ravi shared why Son of Sardaar 2 holds such personal weight:
“People have seen me in tit-bits, in small roles. But for Hindi cinema, for which I was prepared years ago, I finally got a full-fledged, performance-oriented role. It feels like I’ve just entered the industry again.”
With Son of Sardaar 2 promising action, comedy, and emotion in equal measure, Ravi Kishan’s powerful role as Raja looks set to be a career milestone—and one the actor clearly cherishes with the humility and grit that have defined his incredible journey.
