Kareena Kapoor Khan has finally addressed the commercial failure of her debut production venture, The Buckingham Murders. Directed by Hansal Mehta, this crime thriller received critical acclaim but struggled at the box office.
During the launch of a film festival featuring cult classics like Asoka, Jab We Met, and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, Kareena spoke with Naseem Khan about navigating the challenges of a disappointing commercial performance. When prompted about The Buckingham Murders, she offered a thoughtful perspective.
Kareena emphasized the importance of making bold choices in her career. “Actors need to make brave choices and take on different kinds of roles,” she remarked. “I cannot do Geet or Poo for the rest of my career.”
She acknowledged the varying commercial outcomes of films, stating, “Some films do 100 crore, some 500 crore, but some films are such that even if only a handful of people watch them and appreciate them, that makes my heart happy. It reassures me that there is an audience for this kind of film.”
