In a significant boost for the Telugu film industry, the Telangana government issued a new government order (GO) on Monday evening, approving extra shows and increasing ticket prices for the highly anticipated film Devara: Part 1, directed by Koratala Siva. The film features Jr NTR in the lead role, and he expressed his gratitude to the government for their support.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Jr NTR thanked the government officials, including Chief Minister Sri Revanth Anumula and Cinematography Minister Sri Komati Reddy KVR, for their efforts in supporting the film's release. He wrote, “My heartfelt thanks to the Honourable CM, Sri @revanth_anumula garu, and Cinematography Minister, Sri @KomatiReddyKVR garu, for issuing the new G.O. for the #Devara release. The newly issued GO allows for an additional show at 1 AM on the film’s release date, September 27, across 29 theaters. On the opening day, six shows will be available, starting from 4 AM, with a ticket price hike of ₹100. For a nine-day period, from September 28 to October 6, theaters will be permitted to run five shows daily, with ticket prices increasing by ₹25 in single screens and ₹50 in multiplexes.
This move by the Telangana government follows a similar decision by the Andhra Pradesh government, which recently approved extra shows and a ticket price hike for local films. The actions of both states reflect a growing recognition of the importance of the film industry to regional culture and economy, especially during high-profile releases.
