Actor Akshay Oberoi, who is all set to appear in the upcoming romantic comedy Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, recently opened up about his experience working alongside Janhvi Kapoor — and it’s clear that he was left deeply impressed by her.
Speaking about their initial days on set, Akshay candidly shared that the two didn’t interact much at first.“For the first two or three days, we barely spoke. I think she knew everyone else on set — Varun, of course, they grew up together, same circle, film families. Rohit, Sanya, Maniesh Paul — they had all met before. I had never met her. And honestly, I’m shy by nature, and she’s also a bit of an introvert.”
However, something shifted a few days later that sparked a meaningful connection between them. “On the third or fourth day, I was reading a book, and she asked me what I was reading. That opened up a conversation. And then I realized how intelligent she really is. We started discussing Immanuel Kant and other topics that honestly went over my head,” he laughed. “I was amazed.”
From that moment, their bond grew deeper, and Akshay came to admire Janhvi not just as an actor, but as a person. “What really struck me about her is that she’s willing to make fun of herself. She’s open, she shares her vulnerabilities. If she feels insecure about something, she says it — she doesn’t hide it. That takes real courage, especially when you’re Sridevi’s daughter. It must be incredibly tough, constantly living in the shadow of such a legend. But hats off to her. She’s very mature, she understands the world, and she’s not afraid to speak her mind. Honestly, I was quite impressed.”
Directed by the acclaimed Shashank Khaitan, Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari is an upcoming romantic comedy backed by Dharma Productions. The film stars Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor in lead roles, along with Akshay Oberoi, Sanya Malhotra, Rohit Saraf, and Maniesh Paul in key supporting parts.
Known for his earlier hits like Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania and Badrinath Ki Dulhania, Khaitan is returning to his signature mix of heart, humor, and high energy. The film promises a fun-filled, emotionally rich narrative with plenty of laughs and romance. The film is slated to hit theatres on October 2, 2025.
