In a matter of hours, the trailer for one of India’s most ambitious mythological superhero films has taken the internet by storm, sparking conversations across the country and beyond. With Teja Sajja stepping back into the spotlight after the blockbuster success of HanuMan, Mirai promises not just another cinematic experience, but a spiritual, emotional, and visual epic that blends ancient legend with modern storytelling.

The film is all set to hit theatres worldwide on September 12, and with the trailer now out, excitement has reached a fever pitch.

Directed and shot by Karthik Ghattamaneni, Mirai doesn’t just aim to entertain—it aims to elevate the Indian superhero genre to mythic proportions. After making waves with HanuMan, Teja Sajja returns in Mirai as a reluctant warrior on a soul-stirring journey of self-realization, divine destiny, and world-saving stakes.

The trailer begins with a philosophical undertone, introducing Teja’s character—a young man with a helping heart, who believes nothing in this world truly belongs to anyone. He seems far removed from the idea of being a ‘Superyodha’. But fate has other plans. As the narrative unfolds, we’re introduced to the central conflict: an evil force, played by Manchu Manoj in a dark and powerfully intense avatar, seeks to acquire the legendary Nine Books of Wisdom—texts so powerful, they could drown the Ganges in blood if misused. The only hope? A divine weapon called Mirai, forged during the Treta Yuga, said to be connected to the path Lord Rama once walked. And Teja’s character, though initially unwilling, is the one destined to wield it.

Perhaps the most goosebump-inducing moment in the trailer is the appearance of Lord Rama—a moment shrouded in mystery and awe. Though the casting remains under wraps, this divine connection gives Mirai an emotional and spiritual weight rarely seen in superhero cinema. The scene with the bird and Lord Rama, combined with beautifully rendered VFX and a haunting score, signals that this isn’t just about action—it’s about faith, legacy, and the eternal battle between light and darkness.

Shot with a visual richness that belies its modest budget, Mirai stands out for its top-notch visual effects, sweeping landscapes, and bold artistic design. Karthik Ghattamaneni’s dual role as director and cinematographer ensures that every frame is intentional, blending epic scale with emotional depth. Art direction by Sri Nagendra Tangala, editing by the legendary Sreekar Prasad, and music by Gowra Hari (who also worked on HanuMan) give the film an atmospheric texture that supports both its fantasy and spiritual dimensions.

The film doesn’t rely on Teja alone. Shriya Saran plays a key role as the protagonist’s mother, with her character reportedly acting as a guiding force even after her passing. Jayaram, Jagapathi Babu, and Ritika Nayak round out the cast, adding gravitas and diversity to the story. Manchu Manoj as the antagonist “Black Sword” is a revelation—his transformation into a menacing villain wielding dark forces could be a game-changing moment for the actor.

With a pan-India release across eight languages in both 2D and 3D, Mirai is clearly designed to break boundaries. Backed by People Media Factory and producers TG Vishwa Prasad and Krithi Prasad, the film is being positioned not just as a Telugu blockbuster, but as a pan-Indian cinematic experience.

What makes Mirai truly exciting is its commitment to bridging mythology with modern storytelling, without losing the essence of either. It’s a story that’s rooted in Indian spiritual history but built for the contemporary viewer.

If HanuMan was the spark, Mirai could well be the fire. With the trailer delivering on all fronts—action, emotion, visuals, and intrigue—the film has the potential to be not just a commercial success but a genre-defining moment for Indian cinema.

Should Karthik Ghattamaneni manage to deliver the highs teased in the trailer, Teja Sajja might just emerge as the new face of mythic Indian cinema—a rare feat for any young actor, let alone within back-to-back films.

The future looks promising. And its name is Mirai.
