Netflix has dropped the chilling teaser trailer for its upcoming gothic horror epic, Frankenstein, a visually arresting and deeply atmospheric retelling of Mary Shelley’s iconic 1818 novel. Directed and written by Oscar-winner Guillermo del Toro, this adaptation promises a rich, emotionally charged, and deeply unsettling take on the classic tale of science, sorrow, and monstrosity.
The film stars an electrifying ensemble led by Oscar Isaac as Dr. Victor Frankenstein and Jacob Elordi as the reawakened Monster. Set in 19th-century Eastern Europe, the story follows Dr. Pretorious, played by Christoph Waltz, as he embarks on a grim quest to locate the Monster—long thought dead in a fire four decades earlier—in hopes of resurrecting Frankenstein’s forbidden experiments. The teaser closes with a chilling tagline: “Only Monsters Play God.”
Rounding out the cast are Mia Goth, Felix Kammerer, Lars Mikkelsen, David Bradley, Charles Dance, Christian Convery, and Ralph Ineson, each adding weight to the film’s dark, period-drama ambiance. With del Toro at the helm, fans can expect a meticulous blend of classic horror, gothic romance, and philosophical depth—hallmarks of both the source material and the filmmaker’s visionary style.
Frankenstein is set to release on Netflix in November 2025, and it’s already shaping up to be one of the most talked-about cinematic events of the year. Moody, macabre, and magnificently cast, this monster is ready to rise again—and perhaps finally tell the story it was always meant to.
