Actress Fatima Sana Shaikh is all set to appear in Anurag Basu’s highly anticipated ensemble film Metro... In Dino, opposite Ali Fazal. A spiritual sequel to the cult classic Life in a... Metro, the upcoming film carries forward the emotional resonance, urban chaos, and musical richness of its predecessor—elements that still linger with fans more than a decade later.

For Fatima, the film is not just a new project—it's a deeply nostalgic and meaningful experience, especially when it comes to the music.

Speaking at the launch of the first song 'Zamana Lage' of the film , Fatima opened up about how personally she connected to the original film’s music and her excitement about the new album composed by Pritam.“When Dada (Anurag Basu) and Pritam come together, the magic they create is unmatched. I was quite young back then, but whenever I fell in love or had my heart broken, the songs from Life in a... Metro were my go-to. I’ve written so many letters just listening to those songs. This new album recreates that same emotional depth.”

She stressed that music today often leans toward trends and virality, but Metro... In Dino takes a very different path—one that's emotional and authentic.“Our characters in the film are raw and layered. The songs had to reflect that same honesty. If music is only made for trends, virality, or reels, it won’t connect with people. That’s why all of us connected with this album—it’s real.”

Fatima also shared a glimpse of the fun atmosphere on set, calling Anurag Basu one of the most relaxed and joyful directors she has worked with.“There was so much fun on set! We’d be joking around right until the take started. Dada is so easygoing—you don’t even realize when the shoot is happening. It felt like a constant celebration.”

Metro... In Dino features an impressive ensemble cast including Aditya Roy Kapur, Sara Ali Khan, Konkona Sen Sharma, Pankaj Tripathi, Neena Gupta, and Anupam Kher. With music by Pritam, and stories set across cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Bangalore, and Pune, the film captures the evolving emotional landscapes of contemporary urban life.

The film releases in theatres on July 4, and if the first song Zamana Lage is any indication, audiences are in for a moving and memorable experience.
