The announcement of the festival took place on Wednesday in Mumbai, where Kareena reflected on her illustrious career and the films that have defined her journey. “In 25 years, one has to think about many things,” she began. “When we were starting at 17-18, it was always about proving yourself, just being in every film. After a decade, the question of reinvention arises, which can be very scary in this male-dominated industry.”
Kareena emphasized the importance of resilience and innovation in her career. “Over the years, we have had many brave actresses who have taken big strides. While I’ve had the privilege of working in successful films with superstars, I’ve also focused on proving myself as an actor,” she noted. She believes that the longevity of an actor depends on continuously showcasing their talent, combined with a unique "X factor."
“X factor combined with talent, and of course, 30 percent of luck, is what it takes,” she said candidly. “For me, every five years, I look back and ask myself, ‘What am I supposed to do now?’ It’s not just about being part of successful films; it’s about leaving a legacy. I come from a family of remarkable talents, and I feel the need to leave my mark as well.”
The festival will feature a carefully curated selection of Kareena’s most memorable films, including Jab We Met directed by Imtiaz Ali, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham by Karan Johar, Asoka directed by Santosh Sivan, Chameli by Sudhir Mishra, and Omkara by Vishal Bhardwaj.
