IFC Films and Shudder have just released the trailer for Get Away, a quirky new horror comedy that promises to blend laughs with chills. Written by the comedic talent Nick Frost and directed by Steffen Haars, this film aims to offer a unique take on the vacation-from-hell trope.
Starring Nick Frost, alongside Aisling Bea, Sebastian Croft, Maisie Ayres, and Eero Milonoff, Get Away follows the Smith family as they embark on a much-needed getaway to the remote Swedish island of Svälta. However, their excitement quickly turns to unease as they encounter unfriendly locals who ominously advise them to steer clear of the island, especially during the infamous Karantan festival.
Despite the warnings, the Smith family, desperate for a break, decides to take the ferry to Svälta. What they find upon arrival is a community that is not only unwelcoming but seems to be harboring dark secrets. As the locals’ strange behavior hints at something sinister—could it be a cult or a sacrifice?—the family attempts to enjoy their vacation with swimming, hiking, and a bit of blissful ignorance. However, their plans may not go as smoothly as hoped, leading to a hilarious yet unsettling series of events.
