Acclaimed actress Vidya Balan made a heartwarming appearance at the 10th edition of the Role Model Series hosted by India’s International Movement to Unite Nations (IIMUN) on Tuesday . The event, known for bringing together inspirational figures and young minds, saw Vidya engaging in a candid and lively interaction with students of various age groups.
Reflecting on the experience, Vidya shared how much she enjoyed the vibrant energy in the room. “There were kids from different age groups, and I truly had a great time interacting with them. I was trying to speak their language- the Gen Z lingo and we were all laughing together. The atmosphere was so joyful,” she said.
She emphasized her love for spending time with children and applauded IIMUN’s continued efforts. “I always love interacting with kids. It felt really good. IIMUN is doing a fantastic job. The entire team has been working for years, and because of that, awareness and confidence among the youth is increasing. They’re becoming citizens of the world and I think that’s fantastic,” she added.
Getting personal, Vidya also spoke about her connection to children through her own family. “My sister has twin children, so I know how they think. I’m always interested in understanding kids because every generation is so different. We were different from our parents, and this generation is different from us,” she noted.
She reflected on the evolving world young people face today, recognizing both the challenges and their heightened awareness. “It’s amazing to see how kids today perceive the world. Their world is very different from ours. The issues they deal with like judgment and rejection—are also different. But at the same time, they’re so self-aware. I just hope they also learn to truly know themselves. We spend so much time trying to understand the world around us, but we need to know ourselves first because that is our first world,” she concluded.
