Riddhi Kumar, the young actor known for her captivating roles in Radhe Shyam, Salaam Venky, and Superboys of Malegaon, has her heart set on a dream role — playing the iconic Rekha in a biopic directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. And she’s manifesting it with serious dedication.
While promoting her upcoming film The Raja Saab with Prabhas, Riddhi opened up about her dream during a recent media interaction. “I wish to play Rekha ji in her biopic, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. That is my dream project,” she said. “I even wrote him a letter — like, a coffee-dipped, hand-curated, burnt-edges, vintage letter with a sealed stamp. I hope he’s watching this interview and reads the letter... and casts me as Rekha in his film.”
When asked whether Rekha inspired her to pursue acting, Riddhi had a thoughtful answer: “I really like Rekha ji as an individual—what it means to be the embodiment of being unabashedly yourself. But my love for acting comes from a deeper place. I’ve always been drawn to the arts—painting, writing, dancing, singing. I even do oil painting. Acting, to me, is the ultimate form of self-expression—it brings together body, voice, soul, and emotion.”
Meanwhile, fans will soon see Riddhi on screen in The Raja Saab, a romantic horror comedy directed by Maruthi, starring Prabhas in a dual role alongside Sanjay Dutt, Nidhhi Agerwal, and Malavika Mohanan (in her Telugu debut). Produced by People Media Factory and IVY Entertainment, the film is set to release on 5 December 2025. Until then, we’ll be watching to see if Bhansali picks up that beautifully crafted letter!
