The much-awaited wedding of cricketer Smriti Mandhana and music composer Palash Muchhal, scheduled for November 23, has come to an unexpected halt after both families were struck by medical emergencies. According to family members, Smriti’s father, Shrinivas Mandhana, fell seriously ill on the morning of the wedding. He reportedly developed heart attack–like symptoms while having breakfast and was immediately rushed to Sarvhit Hospital in Sangli. Doctors kept him under observation, stating that his condition required close monitoring before any further decisions could be made. Smriti, who has always shared a deeply emotional bond with her father, was devastated. The cricketer made it clear that she would not proceed with the wedding until her father recovered fully.
In an unexpected twist, the groom-to-be Palash Muchhal also suffered a health setback shortly after Smriti’s father was hospitalized. Emotionally overwhelmed by the situation, Palash broke down repeatedly, which caused his own health to deteriorate. He was admitted to a hospital for several hours, treated with IV fluids, ECG monitoring, and additional tests. Thankfully, he has now been discharged and is recovering at home in Mumbai, but the emotional toll on both families remains heavy.
Singer Palak Muchhal, Palash’s sister, addressed the situation publicly. Sharing a heartfelt note on Instagram along with a picture from the couple’s mehendi ceremony, she confirmed that the wedding had been postponed:“Due to Smriti’s father’s health, Smriti and Palash’s wedding has been put on hold. We would request you all to respect the privacy of the families during this sensitive time.”
Her message quickly circulated across social media, with fans and well-wishers sending prayers for both families. Smriti Mandhana and Palash Muchhal began dating in 2019 and kept their relationship private for years. They made their love public only in 2024, sharing special moments including a viral proposal video from DY Patil Stadium much to the joy of fans. Their wedding was expected to be a beautiful celebration of their five-year journey together.
