Madhaaraasi, the Sivakarthikeyan starrer directed by A. R. Murugadoss, may be winning hearts in theatres, but off-screen the film’s producers are facing an entirely different fight. Sri Lakshmi Movies, the production banner behind the psychological action thriller, issued a strict warning to fans, pages, and even crew members after noticing a surge of behind-the-scenes stills and videos appearing online without approval.
The production house shared a post on their official handle with a simple but firm caption: “Watch Madharaasi in cinemas. Kindly refrain from sharing unauthorized pictures and making videos from the film.” This note quickly set the tone for their message—that piracy is no laughing matter, even when disguised as casual posts.
In their detailed statement, Sri Lakshmi Movies balanced appreciation with concern. The note read: “Firstly, thank you to the audience for the tremendous response to #Madharaasi. This film is a collective effort of many people, and it is great to see the wonderful reception the film is getting in theatres. During this moment of celebration, there is a slight cause of concern. We have observed that many pages, artists, and crew who have worked on the film are circulating and posting BTS Stills, making videos, and other unauthorized content from the film. This is unfair to the producers. Any accounts doing such will be reported and brought down. Any content that goes out from the film should be approved and authorized by Sri Lakshmi Movies as the producers.”
The warning arrives even as Madharaasi continues its box office run with mixed to positive reviews. The film, starring Sivakarthikeyan alongside Rukmini Vasanth, Vidyut Jammwal, Biju Menon, Vikranth, and Shabeer Kallarakkal, tells the story of a fregoli delusion patient who finds himself entangled in a mission to stop illegal arms from spreading across Tamil Nadu. With music by Anirudh Ravichander, cinematography by Sudeep Elamon, and editing by A. Sreekar Prasad, the film delivers both psychological tension and full-blown action spectacle.
But for now, beyond the guns, gangs, and psychological turns of the movie’s plot, the real villain in the shadows is unauthorized sharing. Sri Lakshmi Movies has made its position loud and clear—celebrate Madharaasi on the big screen, but think twice before leaking what doesn’t belong online.
