Director Tarun Mansukhani, who made a memorable debut with the 2008 hit Dostana, is returning to the director’s chair after 12 long years – and he’s doing it in style with Housefull 5, one of the biggest ensemble films of the year. At the grand trailer launch of the film, Mansukhani opened up about his comeback, working with a massive cast, and why he felt no pressure despite the scale of the project.
Speaking candidly about returning to filmmaking after more than a decade, Tarun said,
"I wasn’t nervous after 12 years, because I don’t overthink about what I need to achieve or not achieve. We’re here to make a film and have fun with it."
Despite helming a film with 18 lead actors — a daunting task for most — Mansukhani said the experience was anything but stressful. "Handling everyone was a piece of cake — except Chunky Pandey, who was always late and never wore his moustache! But honestly, everything was fun."
Recalling the most exciting part of the shoot, he added: "Shooting on the ship was the most fun, even though it was rocking, there was a storm, and we faced all sorts of problems. But we kept shooting, had a blast, and I never once felt the pressure of handling this cast."
Housefull 5, directed by Tarun Mansukhani and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, Warda Nadiadwala, and Firuzi Khan, is being touted as the biggest installment in the blockbuster Housefull franchise. Featuring a powerhouse ensemble including Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, Abhishek Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt, Fardeen Khan, Shreyas Talpade, Nana Patekar, Jackie Shroff, Dino Morea, Jacqueline Fernandez, Nargis Fakhri, Chitrangada Singh, Sonam Bajwa, Soundarya Sharma, Chunky Pandey, Nikitin Dheer, and Johnny Lever — the film promises non-stop laughter with a thrilling twist.
