At the launch of the soulful hit Zamaana Lage from the upcoming film Metro... In Dino, music composer Pritam opened up about the long-standing creative bond he shares with director Anurag Basu and producer Bhushan Kumar. The song, which has already gone viral with over 12 million views, has reignited excitement around the much-awaited spiritual sequel to Life in a... Metro.
Speaking about his frequent collaborator Anurag Basu, Pritam shared, “Anurag finds the correct root, and he gives me the space. We keep on throwing ideas at each other, and it also matters who’s accepting those ideas. It’s always a trio—director, music director, and lyricist—that shapes a successful album. Anurag is the director, but I’d say he’s also half a lyricist—his lyrical instincts are so sharp, he takes charge of that side too.”
Pritam also reserved high praise for T-Series head Bhushan Kumar, recalling their two-decade journey together. “From the very beginning of my career, I’ve worked with Bhushan Kumar, and I’ve never seen anyone as passionate about music as him,” Pritam said. “You can call him in the middle of the night, and he’s awake to discuss a track. Once, he even chased me down on Back Road for a music master. That’s the kind of passion he has—it’s unbeatable.”
Metro... In Dino, directed by Anurag Basu and produced by T-Series Films and Anurag Basu Productions, explores the lives of contemporary couples across four major Indian cities—Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, and Bangalore. Starring Aditya Roy Kapur, Sara Ali Khan, Ali Fazal, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Konkona Sen Sharma, Pankaj Tripathi, Neena Gupta, and Anupam Kher, the film is set to release on July 4, 2025. With music at the emotional core of the narrative, the collaboration between Basu, Pritam, and Kumar promises another memorable soundtrack for the ages.
