Veteran actor Paresh Rawal, known for effortlessly blending humor, depth, and gravitas in every role, will soon be seen in the upcoming supernatural horror-comedy Thamma, where he plays the father of Ayushmann Khurrana’s character. As the film gears up for its Diwali 2025 release, Rawal recently spoke about how enriching — and surprisingly smooth — the experience of shooting the film was.
Sharing his thoughts at a special interaction during the sneak peek event, Paresh Rawal revealed that working on Thamma didn’t require any “extra effort” on his part — and that was entirely due to the team around him. Reflecting on the process, he said:
“I didn’t have to put in any extra hard work — Ayushmann came fully prepared. All I had to do was work with honesty. A big part of any performance also depends on how your co-actor responds to you. I was fortunate to have such a good director and such brilliant co-artists. So honestly, the credit goes to them. I’m saying this with honesty — not modesty.”
His words, marked by humility and precision, give insight into the collaborative spirit behind Thamma. While many associate acting with individual talent, Rawal’s comments underline the importance of a supportive creative ecosystem — where performance is not just about delivery, but about genuine connection and timing with fellow actors.
In Thamma, Rawal plays Ram Bajaj Goyal, the concerned and somewhat confused father of Alok, a journalist (played by Ayushmann Khurrana) who transforms into a betaal — a mythical creature from Indian folklore. The film promises a unique blend of action, horror, and comedy, all wrapped in a family-friendly festive entertainer.
The film also stars Rashmika Mandanna as Tadaka, a mysterious woman with secrets of her own, and Nawazuddin Siddiqui in a character that’s expected to bring both intensity and unpredictability. Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar and produced by Dinesh Vijan and Amar Kaushik under the Maddock Films banner, Thamma continues the legacy of films like Stree, Bhediya, and Roohi — combining folklore with fun.
The trailer and songs of Thamma have already gained impressive traction online. Ayushmann’s comic timing, Rashmika’s action-packed transformation, and Nawazuddin’s eerie presence — all balanced by Paresh Rawal’s grounded performance — seem to be setting the stage for a Diwali blockbuster.
As Rawal himself puts it, working with such a team doesn’t feel like hard work — it feels like an honest collaboration. And when honesty meets talent, audiences can expect nothing short of magic.
