Rashmika Mandanna has steadily carved a special place for herself in Bollywood. From being a national crush to becoming one of the most bankable stars in the industry, she’s now a name audiences look forward to not just for her charm, but for her ever-evolving range as an actor. And in her upcoming film Thamma, she’s ready to surprise everyone with a brand new avatar.
At a recent sneak peek event for Thamma, Rashmika spoke enthusiastically about her experience shooting the film — particularly about doing action for the first time. Her excitement was palpable as she shared: “Doing action was so much fun… I loved the process, I absolutely loved it. Usually in films, you get a chance to perform emotionally or dramatically, but for the first time, I got to do a physical performance — running, action, all of it. I really enjoyed it.”
For someone widely known for her expressive performances and relatable characters, stepping into a more physically demanding role was both a challenge and a thrill. With Thamma, Rashmika adds another dimension to her filmography showing that she's not just about smiles and sensitivity, but also strength and stamina.
Thamma is a supernatural horror-comedy that brings together the familiar magic of Maddock Films’ successful horror universe — known for hits like Stree, Roohi, and Bhediya while introducing new characters and creatures from Indian folklore. This Diwali, audiences will meet Alok, played by Ayushmann Khurrana, a journalist who mysteriously transforms into a betaal (a vampire-like creature). Rashmika plays Tadaka, a central figure in his supernatural journey — a character who is said to be layered, mystical, and full of surprises.
Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar and produced by Dinesh Vijan and Amar Kaushik, Thamma blends humour, horror, romance, and high-energy action. With Nawazuddin Siddiqui playing a sinister, possibly unhinged character and Paresh Rawal taking on the role of Ayushmann’s father, the film boasts a dynamic ensemble cast that promises both laughs and thrills.
The trailer of Thamma has already created major buzz, offering glimpses of fast-paced action, eerie moments, and quirky humour. Scheduled to release on October 21, 2025, right in time for Diwali festivities, Thamma positions itself as a family entertainer that doesn’t just offer scares, but also heart and humour.
