Emraan Hashmi has unveiled the official teaser for his upcoming film Haq, a powerful legal drama inspired by the landmark Shah Bano case that reshaped discourse around gender rights and personal laws in India. Sharing the teaser on his X profile on September 30, Hashmi wrote: "With power, pride, and tradition on his side, will he be able to win this fight? #Haq teaser out now. Releasing in cinemas on 7th November."
The film, directed by Suparn S. Varma, stars Emraan Hashmi in a commanding role, alongside Yami Gautam and Vartika Singh. Haq dramatizes the real-life legal and social battle of Shah Bano, a Muslim woman who sought alimony through the Supreme Court after being abandoned by her husband. Her case became a flashpoint for national conversations around women's rights, religious laws, and the call for a Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in India.
The teaser hints at a high-stakes courtroom narrative that begins with a deeply personal marital dispute and expands into a sweeping legal and cultural reckoning. Emraan Hashmi appears in an intense, layered role—facing the collision of tradition, personal belief, and constitutional law.
Produced by Junglee Pictures in association with Baweja Studios and Insomnia Media Content, Haq brings together a stellar team including Danish Husain, Sheeba Chadha, Aseem Jain, Reshu Nath, and music by Vishal Mishra and Sandeep Chowta. With cinematography by Aseem Jain and costumes by Ashley Rebello, the film also marks a strong collaborative effort from producers Vineet Jain, Harman Baweja, Juhi Parekh Mehta, Amrita Pandey, and others.
Haq is scheduled for a theatrical release on November 7, 2025, and is already generating conversation for its timely take on legal reform, religious identity, and gender justice.
