ZEE5 has just dropped the official trailer for Costao, a pulse-racing crime thriller that blends smuggling, strategy, and moral ambiguity against the sun-soaked, shadowy backdrop of Goa. Starring the ever-enigmatic Nawazuddin Siddiqui in the titular role, this film marks the rise of an unlikely hero — or depending on your view, a dangerous legend.
Directed by Sejal Shah and written by Bhavesh Mandalia and Meghna Srivastava, Costao tells the story of Costao Fernandes, a soft-spoken customs officer who quietly becomes a force to be reckoned with. Known for his ingenious, low-key methods to dismantle smuggling operations, Costao builds a reputation on brains over brawn — until one fateful move changes everything. When he kills a powerful drug lord in an act of self-defence, his once-calm world spirals into a violent, high-stakes game of survival.
The trailer is all mood and menace — crisp Goa visuals laced with tension, power plays in sunlit rooms, and Nawazuddin’s magnetic presence simmering just beneath the surface.
