Bollywood director Homi Adajania didn’t hold back while signing off from Delhi after completing the city’s schedule for his upcoming film Cocktail 2, sharing on Instagram story: “Adios Delhi…It’s been like lickin an ashtray.” The cheeky remark humorously highlighted the challenges of shooting amid the city’s notorious pollution and smog, but the team successfully wrapped the schedule, bringing the sequel closer to completion.
Cocktail 2 is a “spiritual sequel” to the 2012 hit Cocktail, with Adajania returning as director and Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films producing. The film stars Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon, and Rashmika Mandanna, with Shahid and Rashmika teaming up for the first time, while Shahid and Kriti reunite after Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya. The trio is expected to bring fresh dynamics to the romantic drama, set against stylish locales and high-energy storytelling.
The shoot has already spanned Europe, including the picturesque landscapes of Sicily, Italy, and now Delhi-NCR, completing the domestic schedule. The city’s air may have been a challenge, but it also provided an urban backdrop crucial to the film’s narrative, balancing the romantic and modern elements that fans have come to expect from Adajania’s films.
With its international locations, star-studded cast, and signature Adajania style, Cocktail 2 is slated for a theatrical release in the latter half of 2026, promising a fresh blend of romance, humor, and drama. Homi’s colorful send-off from Delhi may have raised eyebrows, but it also reflects the dedication and hard work behind bringing this much-anticipated sequel to life.
