Early Life
Born on 27th January, 1976 in Mumbai, Maharashtra to Bhupesh Talpade, Shreyas complete his schooling from Shree Ram Welfare Society's High School in Andheri-West. His aunts are veteran tinsel town actresses Jayashree T. and Meena T.
Personal Life
He married Deepti Talpade, who he met when he went to her college as a celebrity guest. She was then the college's general secretary and is now a clinical psychologist.
Movie Career
After appearing in TV soap operas like Woh on Zee TV and Damini on a Marathi channel, Shreyas Talpade did minor roles in Marathi films like Pachadlela and Savarkhed: Ek Garv. He then made his feature film debut as a lead in Nagesh Kukunoor's Iqbal. The coming-of-age sports drama follows the story of a passionate cricket enthusiast from a remote Indian village, who in spite of deaf and mute dreams of playing cricket for the Indian cricket team. The movie opened to good reviews from the audiences and critics alike and went on to win the National Film Award for Best Film on Other Social Issues. He next starred in another Nagesh Kukunoor's film Dor. Starring Shreyas Talpade, Gul Panag, and Ayesha Takia in the lead roles, the movie got rave reviews and Shreyas Talpade was greatly applauded for his role.
In 2006, Shreyas starred in the comedy Apna Sapna Money Money which is a story of several individuals who are in a frenzied race to become rich. The movie which co-starred Ritesh Deshmukh, Jackie Shroff, Sunil Shetty, Riya Sen, Anupam Kher, Rajpal Yadav and Chunky Pandey, was a big hit at the box office.
The following year saw Shreyas feature in the Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone starrer Om Shanti Om. Directed by Farah Khan, this supernatural romantic drama film was a runaway hit with Taran Adarsh of Bollywoodhungama giving the film 4 out of 5, saying "This Diwali, have a blast! (...) At the box-office, the film will set new records in days to come and has the power to emerge one of the biggest hits of SRK's career." Shreyas Talpade received the prestigious Filmfare Award for the Best Supporting Actor for his role as Pappu Master in the film.
Shreyas, here on stepped into the comedy genre and did films like Welcome To Sajjanpur, Golmaal Returns, Golmaal 3, Housefull 2, Poshter Boyz (which he also produced), and Great Grand Masti. His 2016 projects include movies like M.S. Dhoni and Wah Taj.
