About
Esha Gupta is an Indian model and actor who made her Bollywood debut with 2012’s crime-thriller Jannat 2 co-starring Emraan Hashmi and Randeep Hooda.
Early Life
Born on the 28th of November, 1985 in New Delhi, Esha was born to an air-force officer, who has now retired, and his homemaker wife, and also has a sister called Neha Gupta. She studied at Blue Bells International School in New Delhi and went on to pursue her mass communication degree from Manipal Institute of Communication at the Manipal University in Karnataka. However, after completing her studies, she went on to audition for Femina Miss India in 2007, after which she represented India in Miss India International. She chose to forfeit a law scholarship at the Newcastle University in order to pursue her acting career in Bollywood.
Personal Life
The model turned actor has been dating son of famous philanthropist, art aficionado, businesswoman, columnist and media personality Feroze Gujral, Armaan Gujral. The two have known each other before Esha became a Bollywood actor. In an interview with Femina in 2014, Esha spoke very highly of her beau and his family. However, rumors of their split began doing the rounds when the actress was linked to director Punit Malhotra. Nothing has been confirmed about the actor’s relationship status with both Punit and Armaan after these rumors surfaced.
Acting Career
The former Miss India International made her Bollywood debut in 2012 with Mahesh Bhatt’s crime thriller Jannat 2 opposite Emraan Hashmi. The movie went on to become a commercially successful movie with critics praising her performance. She then paired up with her Jannat 2 co-star Emraan Hashmi for Vikram Bhatt’s horror-thriller Raaz 3, also featuring Bipasha Basu. Although her performance received mixed, yet mostly negative, reviews, the movie went on to become a success at the box office. She was then roped in by Prakash Jha for his 2012 political movie Chakravyuh co-starring Arjun Rampal and Abhay Deol. Despite her performance being praised and well-received the movie flopped at the box office.
The actor was then seen in Sajid Khan’s slapstick comedy Humshakals co-starring Saif Ali Khan, Riteish Deshmukh, Ram Kapoor, Tamannaah Bhatia, and her Raaz 3 co-star Bipasha Basu. The movie was declared a box office disaster. In 2016, she appeared in Tinu Suresh Desai’s crime-thriller Rustom co-starring Akshay Kumar, Ileana D’cruz, and Arjan Bajwa. In Rustom, she is seen portraying the negative role of Arjan’s sister who is fighting hard to bring his brother’s murderer to justice. Her other projects include Hera Pheri 3 and Commando 2.
