A former model, VJ, TV presenter, actress, dancer and producer, Maliaka Arora is a popular personality in Bollywood. Having started her career as a TV presenter, she got her first big break when she was selected as one of the VJs by MTV when the channel started its operation in India. She gained popularity as a co-anchor with one of the most popular and successful VJs and comedian Cyrus Broacha; she worked in programs like Love Line and Style Check. She eventually entered the modeling industry and featured in several advertisements and album songs like 'Gur Naalo Ishq Mitha' by Bally Sagoo and later gained wide recognition and fame for her item numbers such as 'Chaiyya Chaiyya' from Bollywood film Dil Se.. (1998), Maahi Ve from Kaante (2002), and Munni Badnaam Hui from Dabangg (2010). Her first major acting role was in the film EMI (2008), which failed at the box-office. Apart from films, Malaika has also starred in various TV shows, most notably as the judge in the dance reality show, Nach Baliye across different seasons and on India's Got Talent, a talent reality show.
