The narrative feels heavy-handed and the themes of father-son conflict, while relatable, are explored in such a superficial way that they fail to leave any lasting impact.

The Mehta Boys, directed by Boman Irani, promises an intense exploration of a strained father-son relationship, but unfortunately, it falls flat. Despite its interesting premise of generational conflict and ego clashes, the film struggles to hold attention and never quite delivers on its potential. The performances, while competent, fail to elevate a script that feels stale and uninspired, leaving the viewer with little more than a sense of boredom.

Boman Irani, who plays the central character Shiv Mehta, delivers a performance that lacks depth. His portrayal of a retired widower stuck in his old ways could have been compelling, but instead, it feels repetitive and one-note. Avinash Tiwary as his son, Amay, brings little to the role, and his character’s development is painfully slow and predictable. While the film attempts to explore the emotional fallout of their strained relationship, it never manages to make the audience truly care about these characters or their problems.

The film's pacing is agonizingly slow, with long, drawn-out scenes that drag on without much happening. The narrative feels heavy-handed and the themes of father-son conflict, while relatable, are explored in such a superficial way that they fail to leave any lasting impact. Puja Sarup and Shreya Chaudhry, though fine in their supporting roles, cannot save the film from its inevitable decline into mediocrity. The interactions between the characters feel forced, and by the time the film reaches its so-called emotional climax, it’s too little, too late.

Overall, The Mehta Boys is a tedious, uninspired drama that offers little in terms of entertainment or emotional engagement. It struggles to keep the viewer invested, and the lackluster performances and slow pacing make it a forgettable experience. For those looking for an engaging family drama, this one falls well below expectations. It’s a film that, despite its promising premise, simply never comes to life. Available now on Prime Video, but don't expect much.
