Well Go USA has dropped the chilling trailer for Shaman, an upcoming horror film that blends ancient spiritual beliefs with modern religious conflict in a terrifying tale of possession and survival. Directed by Antonio Negret and written by Daniel Negret, the film is set in the haunting landscapes of rural Ecuador and is slated for release on August 8, 2025.
The story centers on a missionary family who arrives in a remote village with plans to convert the local indigenous community. Things take a dark turn when their young son, played by Jett Klyne, ventures into a sacred and forbidden cave—and emerges possessed by a malevolent spirit. What begins as a spiritual mission quickly unravels into a nightmare far beyond the understanding of Western doctrine.
Sara Canning leads the cast as Candice, a desperate mother clinging to her faith as she seeks a Catholic exorcism to save her son. But the village shamans warn that the force now within the boy predates Christianity—and requires ancient rituals rooted in the land itself. Alongside Daniel Gillies, Alejandro Fajardo, and Segundo Fuérez, the film brings together a diverse ensemble to explore the tense clash between belief systems.
With striking visuals, a suspenseful premise, and culturally layered storytelling, Shaman is shaping up to be more than just a possession horror film. It’s a story about the limits of faith, the power of ancient traditions, and the terrifying consequences of cultural intrusion. Horror fans, mark your calendars—Shaman hits theaters on August 8.
