Focus Features has just unveiled the first teaser trailer for Bugonia, the highly anticipated English-language remake of the 2003 cult Korean film Save the Green Planet!. Directed by Yorgos Lanthimos, the film sees the visionary auteur reuniting with Oscar-winner Emma Stone for what looks to be a bizarre, bold blend of sci-fi, satire, and psychological tension. Set for release on October 24, 2025, Bugonia is already turning heads.
Emma Stone stars as a powerful CEO who becomes the target of a wild kidnapping plot orchestrated by two young conspiracy theorists—played by Jesse Plemons and newcomer Aidan Delbis. Convinced that Stone's character is an alien planning Earth’s destruction, the duo's manic crusade unfolds into a surreal interrogation of truth, paranoia, and corporate power. The story walks a razor-thin line between absurdity and dread, something right in Lanthimos’ wheelhouse.
Also joining the cast are Stavros Halkias, bringing his distinct comedic timing, and Alicia Silverstone in a key supporting role. The screenplay, penned by Will Tracy (The Menu, Succession), promises a sharp, genre-bending narrative that stays true to the spirit of the original Korean film while infusing it with Lanthimos’ trademark weirdness and biting social commentary.
With its darkly comedic tone, eccentric premise, and a powerhouse team both in front of and behind the camera, Bugonia looks poised to offer one of the most unique cinematic experiences of 2025. If the teaser is any indication, viewers can expect a film that’s as disturbing as it is thought-provoking—and possibly a new cult classic in the making.
