Indian cricket star Smriti Mandhana has postponed her wedding with music composer Palash Muchhal after her father, Shrinivas Mandhana, suffered a sudden cardiac-related health emergency on Sunday morning in Sangli. The couple, who had been preparing for a week-long celebration leading up to their November 23 ceremony, called off the event indefinitely to prioritise the senior Mandhana’s recovery.
The incident occurred while Mr. Mandhana was having breakfast at home. When he complained of severe discomfort, the family initially hoped it would subside but his condition worsened within minutes. An ambulance was called, and he was immediately taken to a private hospital in Sangli.
Doctors later confirmed that Mr. Mandhana was experiencing angina, a form of chest pain that can indicate reduced blood flow to the heart. Elevated cardiac enzyme levels and high blood pressure prompted the medical team to place him under continuous observation. Smriti, known to share a deeply emotional bond with her father, made the decision to postpone the wedding without hesitation.
