Director Sonia W Kohli whose film 'Qaid- No Wayyy Out' is all set to hit the cinemas in India next week said her film has a special message and everyone who will watch the film will leave the theatres with a thought in their minds.
The film bagged the Cannes World Film Festival Award in LGBTQ Best Movie category Director Sonia W Kohli who is very excited for the release of the film in India said, "My film is not a normal LGBTQ film, it is a film with a message. The audience will leave the cinemas with a thought after watching my film. Their perspective of looking at people will definitely change.'
Talking about choosing this subject as her first film, she said, "When I chose the subject, I did not keep in mind the commercial element. I had an idea and determination to make it into a film. I did not venture into filmmaking for the commercial aspect. If this film will not be commercially successful, the next one will be. This film has a very unique and closer to reality subject and I felt I should make it.”
Set against the backdrop of London, the film revolves around Jigar, who moves to London to live his life on his terms, but destiny leads him into a trap with no way out.
This diverse line-up of talent brings to life a narrative inspired by true events, promising audiences an immersive journey into the lives of LGBTQ+ individuals grappling with societal prejudice and discrimination.
