Actor Shriya Pilgaonkar is set to take on a gritty, intense role in the upcoming murder mystery Chhal Kapat: The Deception, premiering on ZEE5 on June 6. Directed by Ajay Bhuyan, the film casts Pilgaonkar as Inspector Devika, a determined and sharp-minded cop with a past as mysterious as the case she’s investigating. Known for her versatile performances, Pilgaonkar steps into a new avatar in this psychological thriller that blends suspense, drama, and emotional complexity.
Set in a picturesque village near Burhanpur, the story unfolds during an intimate destination wedding at the ancestral haveli of bride-to-be Alisha Dixit. She reunites with her childhood best friends—Mehak, Ira, and Shalu—for the first time in years. What begins as a joyful celebration of friendship and nostalgia soon spirals into darkness when Shalu, a rising social media influencer, is found dead under mysterious circumstances.
As the joyous occasion descends into chaos, buried secrets, old grudges, and hidden betrayals start to unravel. With every guest now a suspect, the bond between friends begins to fracture. At the heart of the investigation is Inspector Devika, whose calm, composed demeanor masks unresolved traumas.
