Paramount has officially dropped a fresh 60-second promo teaser for the long-awaited comedy sequel, reviving the iconic spoof franchise with Scary Movie 6, also simply titled Scary Movie. The film marks the return of the franchise that first began in 2000 and went on to become a pop culture phenomenon with sequels released in 2001, 2003, 2006, and 2013.

The new installment leans heavily into modern horror trends, especially parodying recent releases like Scream 7, while taking playful jabs at the endless wave of reboots, remakes, requels, and “final chapters” that never actually end. The teaser makes it clear that no horror trope is safe this time around.

The ensemble brings back fan-favourite faces including Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, Anna Faris, and Regina Hall, reprising their iconic comedic roles. They are joined by returning cast members such as Jon Abrahams, Lochlyn Munro, Dave Sheridan, Cheri Oteri, Anthony Anderson, Chris Elliott, and Damon Wayans Jr, along with several fresh additions to the franchise.

One of the standout comedic beats in the promo features a cameo by Kenan Thompson, who appears as a Michael Jackson impersonator in a gag tied to the upcoming biopic buzz, adding another layer of satire to the trailer’s rapid-fire humor.

Directed by Michael Tiddes and written by Rick Alvarez along with Keenen Ivory Wayans, Marlon Wayans, and Shawn Wayans, the film continues the franchise’s tradition of absurd, over-the-top parody comedy. The story once again sees the “Core Four” targeted by a masked killer, but this time the film expands its satire to include nearly every corner of modern Hollywood storytelling.

From “elevated horror” to legacy sequels and cinematic universes, nothing is off limits. The trailer promises a return to the franchise’s chaotic roots, blending slapstick comedy with sharp pop culture parody.

Scary Movie is set to hit theatres on June 12, 2026, and early buzz suggests it is aiming to reintroduce the spoof genre to a new generation while delivering nostalgia for longtime fans.
