Paramount Pictures has dropped the official trailer for the reboot of the iconic comedy franchise The Naked Gun, bringing back the hilarious misadventures of Police Squad with a fresh cast and modern twist. Directed by Akiva Schaffer, this new installment follows Lt. Frank Drebin Jr., played by Liam Neeson, who steps into his father’s oversized shoes to lead the squad and save the day in his own bumbling way.
The film features a diverse and talented cast including Pamela Anderson, Paul Walter Hauser, CCH Pounder, Kevin Durand, Cody Rhodes, Liza Koshy, Eddie Yu, and Danny Huston. Fans of the original Naked Gun movies and the cult classic TV series Police Squad! will recognize the trademark slapstick humor and absurd situations that defined the franchise, now reimagined for a new generation.
Written by Dan Gregor, Doug Mand, and Akiva Schaffer, the screenplay stays true to the spirit of the original works by Jim Abrahams and the Zucker brothers, blending classic gags with fresh comedic beats. The trailer teases plenty of physical comedy, outrageous scenarios, and the signature deadpan delivery fans have come to expect.
Scheduled for release on August 1, 2025, the reboot promises to revive the beloved comedy franchise with a new energy and cast, giving both longtime fans and newcomers a hilarious reason to hit the theaters this summer.
