Veteran actor Pankaj Kapur, who takes on the role of a grandfather in the much-anticipated family drama Binny and Family, has shared his deep trust in the film’s director and writer. Speaking at the trailer launch event held at a Mumbai multiplex, Kapur highlighted the importance of director-writer collaboration in bringing a character to life.
The trailer launch event saw a star-studded turnout, including Anjini Dhawan, Pankaj Kapur, Himani Shivpuri, Rajesh Kumar, Charu Shankar, Naman Tripathy, Mahaveer Jain, Ekta Kapoor, Ssanjay Tripaathy, and Varun Dhawan.
Reflecting on his approach to new roles, Kapur expressed, “Every new role offered to you as an actor comes with both faith in the project and a sense of fear. You question whether you will be able to portray the character correctly or meet the story’s expectations. For this, the support of your director and writer is crucial.”
Kapur emphasized the importance of embracing the director’s vision, regardless of their experience level. “You must accept and trust the director’s guidance without doubt, regardless of whether they are making their second film or you have done fifty. You approach the project with the mindset that this person is here to help you fully realize and portray the character through their direction. Such thoughts of comparison never cross my mind when I take on a new project.”
Binny and Family, directed by Ssanjay Tripaathy, is a poignant family drama exploring generational gaps and features the acting debuts of Anjini Dhawan and Naman Tripathy. Produced by Waveband Productions and Mahaveer Jain Films, the film is slated for release in cinemas on September 20.
