Singer and actor Sophie Choudry urges everyone to try playing Holi without water, on Global Recycle Day 2024.

Sophie Choudry graced the launch of recyclable plastic benches by Bhamla Foundation on Global Recycle Day 2024 in a school in Mumbai.

With Holi around the corner and water crisis being a major concern in leading metros of India, VJ Sophie said, “I would share this message with everyone, please play a dry Holi, water scarcity is an issue, so let’s all be aware, I know it’s such a huge festival and special occasion for every-body, but we all need to be sensible about it. Try celebrating Holi without water and try to cut down the usage of plastic to bare minimum.”

When asked about her plans for the festival of colors day, Sophie said, “My Holi plan, I usually lock myself up, I do play a little bit, but I’d like to stay indoors.”

Talking about the initiative and growing concern regarding plastic waste, Sophie added, “Spreading awareness is the most important thing, and when we start from the school, the kids sort of incorporate all the good habits since childhood, and then that lasts for a lifetime, that is important. I think we give a lot of lectures on not using plastic and stuff, but we don’t know what to do about it, we dispose of it, but we don’t know what to do with it, now these benches are amazing examples, how we can recycle and reuse the plastic. These benches are useful, they are enduring, and they look good in school, so I think it is a great example.”

Sophie Choudry recently made headlines for her recreated song LIPS.
