Emraan Hashmi is all set to redefine the cinematic landscape with his powerful portrayal of Border Security Force (BSF) officer Narendra Nath Dhar Dubey in Tejas Vijay Deoskar’s military action drama, Ground Zero. At the trailer launch event held in Mumbai, Hashmi opened up about his role, the intense preparation involved, and the film’s gripping storyline that sheds light on an operation rarely spoken of in public.
“This story is so extraordinary that it feels even more filmy than films,” Hashmi remarked, reflecting on the real-life operation that forms the crux of Ground Zero. The film is based on the covert military operation that followed the 2001 terrorist attacks on the Indian Parliament and the Akshardham Temple in Gujarat. Hashmi’s character, inspired by the real-life officer Narendra Nath Dhar Dubey, showcases the courage, strategy, and sacrifice of BSF personnel who played a crucial role in safeguarding the nation.
What struck Hashmi the most was the fact that this operation had remained largely undiscovered in the public domain. “I was surprised by how there’s no mention of this operation in the media. I feel fortunate that we’ve got the opportunity to bring this story to the big screen,” he added. Beyond its action-packed sequences and intense drama, Ground Zero is deeply rooted in emotional storytelling, focusing on the human spirit, resilience, and the sacrifices made by these unsung heroes.
Co-produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani’s Excel Entertainment, Ground Zero also stars Sai Tamhankar, Zoya Hussain, Mukesh Tiwari, and Lalit Prabhakar, with a compelling narrative crafted by Sanchit Gupta and Priyadarshee Srivastava.
