Ektaa Kapoor, the renowned producer and creative force behind some of Bollywood’s most memorable projects, has shared her enthusiasm for her latest venture, Binny And Family. The film, which highlights the significant yet often overlooked role of grandparents in family dynamics, has garnered considerable attention for its unique focus on this cherished relationship.
In a recent media interaction, Ektaa Kapoor expressed her deep satisfaction with presenting Binny And Family, a film that delves into the vital role grandparents play within the family unit. She remarked, “Binny And Family is a beautiful film. When I was shown the film, I was very, very happy and I told him I'd love to present the film because grandparents are that part of a family that cinema has not given enough importance to.”
Kapoor’s comments reflect a personal connection to the film’s theme. She explained how her own experiences with her parents taking care of her child have highlighted the invaluable role grandparents play. “As people get older we start thinking they're irrelevant and we start forgetting them. Now when I see my father with my son and I can come out and go out and do things because my parents take care of my child—which in so many homes grandparents do—they develop an even better relationship with the children than you can have because you are living life, and they see their youth in your child and then they connect with your child.”
Ektaa Kapoor’s reflection on the film underscores a broader sentiment about the importance of representing all aspects of family life in cinema. She noted, “And yet this one relationship no one has captured in films. So I'm so proud.” Her pride in the project reveals her commitment to telling stories that resonate with real-life experiences and values, particularly those that have been underrepresented in mainstream media.
Helmed by Ssanjay Tripaathy, the film stars Anjini Dhawan, Pankaj Kapur, Himani Shivpuri, Rajesh Kumar, Charu Shankar and others, slated for 20th September 2024 release.
