Amaal Mallik has spoken out regarding the confusion surrounding the release of the song "Be My Mehbooba" from The Miranda Brothers, which has sparked a rift among fans of both Darshan Raval and Armaan Malik. The song, originally composed by Amaal and written by Kumaar, features vocals by Darshan Raval and Neeti Mohan, but it was also released with Armaan Malik's version, leading to significant backlash and a fan feud.
Clearing the air about the song and what transpired, Amaal wrote, “Just to make things clear my sincere apologies to both the #Bluefamily & #Armaanians for the big F up with my song #BeMyMehbooba!” He explained further, “The first demo was sung by me, then later Armaan had sung it, few years later I got Darshan to sing it and it was finalized in his voice. This is a sham and it’s a fuck up on their part, I don’t know intentional or unintentional but it’s pure politics being played with my song. Making artist fandoms have a war.”
Amaal attributed the confusion to the label’s decisions, saying, “This is all the label’s doing, and they have purposely put Armaan’s voice in the movie and Darshan’s in the audio and made me the villain. Even the release of the song was so badly done, it’s reached wherever because of my fandom and Darshan’s fans and I love you guys for that. But yeh log ko Akal kab aayegi pata nahi.”
This incident highlights the complexities of the music industry and the potential for misunderstandings that can arise from label decisions, leaving fans caught in the crossfire. As Amaal continues to navigate this controversy, it serves as a reminder of the passion that drives fan communities and the importance of clear communication in creative collaborations.
