The trailer launch of De De Pyaar De 2 took place on Tuesday, drawing media buzz and fan excitement as the cast came together to unveil the much-awaited sequel. Among the highlights of the event was R. Madhavan, who joins the franchise in a pivotal role — playing Ajay Devgn’s father-in-law. Known for his powerful yet understated performances, Madhavan took a moment to reflect on his experience working on the film, especially alongside a seasoned star like Devgn, and offered a rare glimpse into what makes the collaboration unique.

Speaking candidly at the event, Madhavan said, “When an actor walks onto a film set, his mindset is only focused on doing his job. But when you work with someone like Ajay Devgn  and I say this from having worked with him earlier in Shaitaan as well you realise he works solely for the good of the film. He never stops anyone, never demands to be treated a certain way because he's the hero.

In fact, I’ll tell you honestly, there were several times while performing my role when the kind of choices I made would be difficult for a typical ‘hero’ to accept. I myself wouldn’t easily do them if I were in his position. But the encouragement, the enthusiasm Ajay sir brings — it gives all of us the space to perform freely. That’s why I truly look forward to working with him.” He further added with a laugh, “The only tough part for me was playing a father! Apart from that, it’s been a complete rollercoaster ride.”

De De Pyaar De 2 brings back the charm, wit, and emotional tension of the original 2019 hit, while introducing new dynamics that make the sequel feel anything but repetitive. Directed by Anshul Sharma, the story now shifts focus from Ajay Devgn’s own family to that of his much-younger partner, Ayesha, played once again by Rakul Preet Singh.

While Madhavan’s comments touched upon his character arc, it was his admiration for Ajay Devgn’s on-set demeanor that truly stood out. In an industry where seniority often translates into authority, Madhavan’s respect for Devgn’s quiet leadership is telling. He pointed out that Devgn’s focus has always been on the bigger picture the film itself rather than ego or image.

“He never once said, ‘I’m the hero, treat me differently.’ And the way he supported my performance — most stars wouldn’t accept that with the same grace. That’s what makes him so easy to work with and why I genuinely enjoy doing films with him,” Madhavan said.

The film also features a strong supporting cast including Meezaan Jafri, Jaaved Jaaferi, Gautami Kapoor, and Ishita Dutta, each contributing to the film’s lively and often chaotic family dynamics. With Luv Ranjan and Tarun Jain co-writing the script, and production from Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Luv Ranjan, and Ankur Garg, the film brings together creative minds with a proven track record of balancing humor, emotion, and mass appeal. De De Pyaar De 2 is slated to release on November 14, 2025, and is being positioned as more than just a romantic comedy — it's a family film at its core, celebrating the messiness, the miscommunication, and the madness that comes with love and relationships.
