With just weeks left before its premiere on Netflix, Aap Jaisa Koi is generating waves of emotional resonance — not just with viewers but also with its cast. Actor Fatima Sana Shaikh, who plays the female lead in this modern-day romance, described the film as an emotional embrace, calling it nothing short of “Jaadu Ki Jhappi.”

At the trailer launch event held in Mumbai, Fatima opened up about her heartfelt connection with the project. When asked how she would describe the film, she said, “For me Jaadu Ki Jhappi — after watching the film, you feel as if someone just gave a warm hug.”

That single phrase seems to encapsulate the emotional tone of the movie: comforting, genuine, and deeply human.

Speaking about her role and the journey of bringing her character to life, Fatima added, “The story of the film is lovely, it’s very honest, and I haven’t played such a layered character in terms of love. I haven’t done something like this before, so I’m pretty excited about that. And above all — who wouldn’t want to work with Madhavan? Ask any heroine — a film with Madhavan, and they wouldn’t say no to it! Vivek wrote a beautiful film and made it even more beautiful for the screen. He has shown it so beautifully.”

Directed by Vivek Soni, Aap Jaisa Koi is not your average romance. It delves into nuanced themes like individuality in relationships, patriarchal conditioning, gender roles, and emotional expression. Starring R. Madhavan as a middle-aged Sanskrit professor, Shrirenu Tripathi, and Fatima Sana Shaikh as Madhu Bose — a modern, independent woman — the story begins with an arranged marriage meeting but evolves into something far deeper, more complex, and intimate.

Also featuring Ayesha Raza, Manish Chaudhari, and Namit Das, the ensemble cast brings emotional intelligence and realism to the table. The film aims to challenge societal stereotypes while preserving the sweetness of companionship — a rarity in mainstream Indian romance.

Produced by Karan Johar’s Dharmatic Entertainment, Aap Jaisa Koi releases globally on July 11, 2025, exclusively on Netflix. If Fatima’s words are any indication, this film isn’t just a love story — it’s a cinematic embrace, a “jaadu ki jhappi” audiences everywhere could use.
