Vidya Balan, who is basking in the success of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, recently graced the launch of Parde Ke Peechhey, the autobiography of renowned singer-turned-author Ila Arun. The event took place during the second day of Literature Live! The Mumbai LitFest, where bibliophiles and literary enthusiasts gathered for the highlight session Celebrating Women: The Shashi Baliga Memorial Session — My Medley.
Speaking at the launch, Vidya Balan was full of admiration for Ila Arun, describing her as “the Queen of Entertainment.” Vidya, who was visibly touched when Ila Arun personally invited her to launch the book, shared, “I was surprised when she asked me because I wasn’t aware of it. I was so touched that Ila Arun Ji asked me to launch her book because I absolutely love her. She is one of my most favorite people, I feel she is a complete entertainer."
Vidya went on to praise Ila’s dynamic energy, recalling how she had captivated the audience with a lively monologue from her play, followed by singing, dancing, and speaking beautifully in her unique style. “Look at the show she put up today, she performed a monologue, she sang, and she danced. She spoke so beautifully like only she can, so I was very touched. I had so much fun with her on stage. Ila Arun Ji for me equals masti,” Vidya added.
Reflecting on Ila Arun’s book, Vidya shared her personal excitement about reading Parde Ke Peechhey. “It is the most honest and fun read. I couldn’t put it down. I have hardly been getting any sleep, but once I started reading it, I got hooked. I think I’ll finish it very soon,” Vidya said, expressing her genuine enjoyment of the book.
In a heartwarming gesture, Ila Arun dedicated an entire chapter to Vidya Balan in the autobiography, a tribute to their collaboration on three different films. Vidya was touched by the gesture, saying, “It was a lovely surprise for me. I think it’s the bigheartedness of Ila Arun that she wrote a passage about me. I am very humbled and touched, and I can’t wait to read the rest of the book.”
