Disney has just dropped the first trailer for Tron: Ares, the much-anticipated sequel to Tron: Legacy (2010) and the third installment in the iconic sci-fi franchise. Directed by Joachim Rønning, known for his work on Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, this film promises to push the boundaries of digital and real-world blurring.
The trailer introduces us to Ares, a highly sophisticated Program (played by Jared Leto), who makes a daring leap from the digital realm into the real world on a mission that could change humanity forever. Yes, you heard that right—humankind’s first encounter with A.I. beings is here, and it’s not your average robot uprising. This A.I. is sleek, mysterious, and possibly a little too cool to be trusted.
