Netflix has unveiled the gripping first trailer for His & Hers, a new crime-thriller limited series adapted from Alice Feeney’s bestselling novel. Set to premiere worldwide on January 8, 2026, the series dives deep into secrets, lies, and a murder that shakes a quiet Georgia town. With an atmospheric tone and a compelling cast led by Tessa Thompson and Jon Bernthal, the trailer hints at a tense, layered mystery where truth is elusive and everyone has something to hide.

The plot centers on Anna, a once-prominent Atlanta news anchor who has withdrawn from life, haunted by personal demons. Everything shifts when she overhears talk of a murder in Dahlonega, the small northern Georgia town she grew up in. Drawn back by instinct and curiosity, Anna throws herself into investigating the case—only to find herself clashing with Detective Jack Harper, who becomes suspicious of her sudden involvement. Their parallel perspectives form the “His & Hers” narrative framework, raising the constant question: who is lying, and why?

Tessa Thompson’s portrayal of Anna exudes vulnerability mixed with determination, while Jon Bernthal brings his trademark intensity to Detective Harper. The trailer also showcases key supporting cast members including Pablo Schreiber, Crystal Fox, Sunita Mani, Rebecca Rittenhouse, Marin Ireland, and Poppy Liu. With such a stacked ensemble, the series promises strong performances that elevate the psychological tension at its core.

Behind the scenes, His & Hers boasts an impressive creative team. The show is created and showrun by William Oldroyd (Lady Macbeth, Eileen) and Dee Johnson (Fellow Travelers, The Good Wife). Writing contributions come from Bill Dubuque, Tori Sampson, Johnson, and Oldroyd, while direction is shared between Oldroyd and Anja Marquardt. The series also enjoys heavyweight executive producers, among them Tessa Thompson herself, Jessica Chastain, Bill Dubuque, Kristen Campo, Kelly Carmichael, and Kishori Rajan.

Although the small-town-murder-mystery genre is crowded—and Jon Bernthal has starred in several similar dark dramas—His & Hers appears poised to differentiate itself through its dual-perspective storytelling, moody Southern setting, and psychological depth. Whether it rises above the genre’s familiar tropes remains to be seen, but the trailer delivers an enticing, shadowy promise of secrets, suspicion, and a slow burn of escalating danger.
