In a bold move to elevate Indian cinema on the global stage, Lyca Group and Mahaveer Jain Films have announced a slate of nine feature films at the prestigious WAVES 2025 summit. The initiative, inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visionary push to position India as a global content powerhouse, marks a significant step in reshaping the country’s cinematic future. The films will roll out over the next three years, each targeting international audiences with powerful, culturally rich storytelling.
The announcement took place in the presence of key dignitaries, including Information & Broadcasting Minister Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, Maharashtra Chief Minister Shri Devendra Fadnavis, and Union Minister of State for I&B Dr L. Murugan. Dr Allirajah Subaskaran, Chairman of Lyca Group, and producer Mahaveer Jain reiterated their commitment to supporting the Prime Minister’s #WAVES initiative, which aims to transform India into a leading global hub for content creation and cinematic excellence.
Both production houses bring a strong legacy to the table. Lyca Productions, the UK- and Europe-based film arm of Lyca Group, has previously delivered blockbuster spectacles such as Robot 2.0 with Rajinikanth and Ponniyin Selvan I & II in collaboration with Mani Ratnam. Mahaveer Jain Films, known for socially relevant and emotionally resonant films like Uunchai, is already working on a diverse pipeline including Naagzilla (with Karan Johar, starring Kartik Aaryan), the international thriller White (featuring Vikrant Massey as Sri Sri Ravi Shankar), and a biopic on chess legend Viswanathan Anand.
