The passing of legendary actor Dharmendra at the age of 89 has left the entire film industry grieving, but for Kapil Sharma, the loss feels deeply personal. The actor-comedian has opened up about the profound bond he shared with the “He-Man” of Indian cinema — a relationship he describes as nothing short of father and son.
Kapil revealed that Dharmendra's death has reopened emotional wounds from losing his own father at the age of 22. “Dharam Paaji was like a father to me… You won’t find a person with a heart like his again. He lived like a king. His passing feels like a family member has gone,” he said, visibly emotional while recalling their memories.
One of the most touching stories Kapil shared was about the early days of The Kapil Sharma Show in 2016. At the time, big stars were hesitant to make an appearance. But a single phone call to Dharmendra changed everything. Without asking a single question, the superstar said yes. Kapil recalled Dharam Paaji instructing his team, “This is my son. Make a date for him, no matter what.” Dharmendra became the very first guest on the show — a gesture Kapil says he will cherish forever.
As Kapil continues to mourn this irreplaceable loss, he is simultaneously gearing up for the release of his upcoming film Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2, hitting theaters on December 12th. The recently released trailer — packed with Kapil’s trademark chaos and clean comedy — has already won the audience’s love.
For Kapil Sharma, this moment is bittersweet: a new professional high overshadowed by the painful departure of a man he considered his guiding light.
