Bollywood multi-hyphenate Farhan Akhtar recently took to Instagram to celebrate a special milestone—the 17th anniversary of his cult musical drama Rock On!!. Reposting a message from Excel Entertainment, the production house behind the film, Farhan captioned it: "The band, the beats, the bond. Celebrating 17 years of Rock On!!" The post ignited a wave of nostalgia among fans who hold the film close to their hearts.
Released in 2008 and directed by Abhishek Kapoor, Rock On!! told the story of four estranged friends who reconnect through their shared love for music. The film broke conventional Bollywood norms with its rock-heavy soundtrack and authentic portrayal of urban youth culture. It also marked Farhan Akhtar’s acting and singing debut, showcasing his talent in a new light and earning both critical acclaim and fan admiration.
The music of Rock On!!—including iconic tracks like Rock On!!, Pichle Saat Dinon Mein, and Tum Ho Toh—continues to resonate with audiences even today. While celebrating the past, Farhan is also focused on the future. He is gearing up for his next major release, 120 Bahadur, directed by Razneesh ‘Razy’ Ghai. The film, produced by Ritesh Sidhwani, Farhan Akhtar, and Amit Chandrra, is inspired by the legendary Battle of Rezang La. It tells the story of 120 soldiers from the 13 Kumaon Regiment who heroically defended against overwhelming odds during the 1962 India-China war.
120 Bahadur is scheduled to hit theatres on November 21, 2025, and is expected to be a deeply patriotic and emotionally resonant tribute to India’s armed forces. With this project, Farhan continues to explore new genres and themes, building a body of work that blends entertainment with meaning.
