Dharma Productions has marked the third anniversary of Brahmāstra: Part One – Shiva with a celebratory video post, captioned: “Celebrating the power of love & light #3YearsOfBrahmastra #Brahmastra.” The moment reflects the film’s continuing cultural resonance and its position as one of Bollywood’s most ambitious fantasy action-adventures.
Directed and written by Ayan Mukerji, the film was produced by Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta, Hiroo Yash Johar, Namit Malhotra, Marijke DeSouza, and Mukerji himself, under the banners of Dharma Productions, Starlight Pictures, Prime Focus, and Star Studios. As the first installment of the grand Āstraverse trilogy, the movie introduced audiences to a sprawling universe deeply inspired by Indian mythology, enriched with modern filmmaking spectacle.
The story follows Shiva (Ranbir Kapoor), an orphaned musician gifted with pyrokinetic powers, who discovers that he is an astra—a divine weapon of light and energy. Alongside Isha (Alia Bhatt), he sets out on a journey to protect the powerful Brahmāstra from falling into the hands of destructive forces led by Junoon (Mouni Roy). The film also features power-packed performances from Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna, and a memorable special appearance by Shah Rukh Khan.
First releasing theatrically on 9 September 2022, the film made history by becoming the highest-grossing Hindi film of 2022 and the fifth highest-grossing Indian film of the year. It also marked Star Studios’ first major title under its revamped identity following Disney’s acquisition of 21st Century Fox.
With two sequels already in development and slated for release in December 2026 and December 2027, Brahmāstra’s anniversary celebration isn’t just about looking back—it’s also about building anticipation for the next adventures in the Āstraverse. As Dharma Productions honors three years of light, love, and legacy, fans can look forward to the expanding journey of one of Bollywood’s most ambitious franchises.
