After the overwhelming success of his directorial debut Taare Zameen Par, Aamir Khan has revealed exciting details about the much-anticipated sequel, Sitaare Zameen Par. In a recent interview, the actor-turned-director explained that while the new film is a sequel to the theme of Taare Zameen Par, it brings a fresh perspective. "It is a sequel of Taare Zameen Par, but the characters are different, and the situation is different. Sitaare Zameen Par is the sequel to the theme of Taare Zameen Par. The thought is the same, but according to me, it is ten steps ahead," he said.
Khan emphasized the significant shift in tone from the original film, which was deeply emotional. "A big difference is, Taare Zameen Par made you cry, but Sitaare Zameen Par will make you laugh," Aamir explained. The sequel promises to bring humor and comedy to the table, yet still carries a deep and meaningful message. "It is a comedic and humorous film, but the message it imparts is deep. You all will watch it," he added.
Taare Zameen Par (2007) explored the struggles of an 8-year-old dyslexic boy named Ishaan, played by Darsheel Safary. Directed and produced by Aamir Khan, the film highlighted issues of autism and psychiatric disabilities, educating audiences about the importance of understanding and supporting children with special needs. The emotional drama was a game-changer, opening hearts and minds to the difficulties faced by children in the education system.
Sitaare Zameen Par, directed by R.S. Prasanna, is a sports drama and a remake of the Spanish film Champions (2018). The film stars Aamir Khan alongside Genelia Deshmukh and is produced by Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao. Announced in October 2023, the movie went through four months of principal photography in India. With a shift in theme and tone, Sitaare Zameen Par is set to bring a lighthearted yet thought-provoking experience to audiences.
