Aamir Khan Productions has officially dropped the first look poster and release date for its much-anticipated film Sitaare Zameen Par, announcing a theatrical release on June 20, 2025. The film, which is being described as a celebration of "love, laughter, and happiness", will serve as a spiritual sequel to the beloved 2007 classic Taare Zameen Par, this time weaving its message through the lens of sports and inclusion.
Directed by R.S. Prasanna, Sitaare Zameen Par takes inspiration from the Spanish hit Champions (2018), which in turn was based on the real-life story of the Aderes basketball team, comprised of players with intellectual disabilities. The Hindi adaptation promises to carry forward the emotional depth of its predecessor, while offering a fresh, feel-good take on acceptance, teamwork, and the true meaning of “normal.”
The film stars Aamir Khan and Genelia Deshmukh in their first on-screen collaboration. While this marks Genelia’s first project with Khan as a co-actor, their professional association dates back to Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na (2008), which Khan produced. Sitaare Zameen Par also features a diverse ensemble cast that includes both emerging and established talents, with filming having spanned Mumbai, New Delhi, and Vadodara over a dedicated four-month schedule.
Backed by a vibrant creative team and music by legends Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, along with inputs from Ram Sampath, the film’s tagline — #SabkaApnaApnaNormal — reinforces its inclusive, joyful message. With the combination of sports drama and heartfelt storytelling, Sitaare Zameen Par is shaping up to be one of 2025’s most meaningful cinematic experiences.
