Profile

About
Having made a mark in the industry with his debut movie, Heropanti, itself, Tiger Shroff is more than just another star kid. While it is known that he is a fitness freak, the martial arts expert also performs most of his stunts on his own as was seen in his 2016 release, Baaghi. An agile dancer too, Tiger played the role of a street dancer inspired by Michael Jackson in Munna Michael in 2017.

Besides acting in Hindi films, the supremely athletic Tiger Shroff has danced his way through few highly popular music album solos like Zindagi Aa Raha Hoon Main, Chal Waha Jaate Hai, and more.

Early Life
Tiger Shroff was born on March 2, 1990, in Mumbai. The surprising thing for Bollywood fans is that his birth name was `Jai Hemant Shroff` and not `Tiger Shroff`. This `name` story is pretty similar to that of his bold and bindaas father as well as actor, Jackie Shroff. In fact, Jackie or `Jaggu Dada` (his local toughie name before he ventured into films) had a birth name that went by `Jaikishan Kakubhai Shroff`. He married his long-time girlfriend, Ayesha Dutt (now Ayesha Shroff), who was a popular model and even acted in a Bollywood movie `Teri Baahon Mei`.

Tiger`s lineage indicates a mixed ethnic group. On one hand, he is a part Gujarati (from Jackie`s father) and part Turkish (from Jackie`s mother), while on the other hand, he is a part Bengali (from Ayesha`s father) and part Belgian (from Ayesha`s mother). He is the elder of the two Shroff siblings, with his sister Krishna Shroff, being three years younger to him.

Being an admirer of the famous martial artist, Bruce Lee, Tiger Shroff started training in martial art forms like Wushu and Taekwondo, at the age of four. He completed his schooling from the American School of Bombay and later enrolled for junior college at the Amity University.

Since childhood, Tiger was a huge fan of football and wanted to become a professional football player . However, Tiger`s destiny had some other plans that eventually made him turn his attention towards acting.

Personal Life
Along with stardom, a Bollywood actor does have to deal with its fair share of baggage in the form of intrusion in private life leading to publicised linkups or rumoured affairs. The same holds true for Tiger Shroff as well. The actor was rumoured to have an affair with the gorgeous Kriti Sanon, his co-star in their debut film, `Heropanti`. He has also been believed to be in a relationship with actress Disha Patani, even though Tiger has claimed her to be "way out of his league".

Movie Career
At one point of time, there were huge speculations surrounding who would be the one to launch Tiger Shroff in Bollywood. While names like Subhash Ghai and Aamir Khan were doing the rounds, it was finally producer Sajid Nadiadwala who along with director Sabbir Khan, handed a great debut for Tiger with `Heropanti`, opposite the stunningly beautiful actress, Kriti Sanon.

For his portrayal of the character `Bablu` in his debut movie, Tiger received a bagful of mixed reviews. While almost everyone appreciated his confidence, dancing skills and stunning action sequences, there were doubts raised about his dialogue delivery. Despite all the critics, `Heropanti` tasted success at the Box Office (over INR 652 million world-wide collections) and gave Tiger Shroff the much needed push for a long career in B-town.

For his debut film, Tiger managed to receive accolades and awards like Filmfare Award for Best Debut Male, Most Promising Newcomer-Male (at Screen Awards), IIFA Award for Star Debut of the Year - Male, and more. Even his co-star Kriti Sanon won the Best Female Debut award at Filmfare, IIFA and Screen Awards Ceremonies.

Following the success of his debut film, Tiger Shroff delivered yet another hit with his second movie Baaghi, also directed by Sabbir Khan and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, in 2016. He romanced the effervescent and graceful Shraddha Kapoor in in the movie, which was an out-and-out action flick that proved to be a bigger grosser, over INR 1.27 billion worldwide collections, than Heropanti. The same year, she was cast alongside Jacqueline Fernandez in Remo D`souza superhero comedy action A Flying Jatt. The movie, unlike his previous two releases, opened to mixed reviews and managed to be a commercial success.

Collaborating again with Sabbir Khan, Tiger was roped in the director`s 2017 dance drama Munna Michael, where he plays the role of a street kid, who idolizes Michael Jackson and tries to dance like him. The movie also marks the debut of Niddhi Agerwal, who plays Tiger`s love interest in the movie. His other projects include Baaghi 2, Rambo, Student Of The Year 2 and War. His 2020 release includes Baaghi 3. He then featured in Heropanti 2 (2022) alongside Tara Sutaria and Ganapath Part 1 (2022) opposite Kriti Sanon. Post that, he worked on his most action-packed movie Rambo (2023).
